MARYLAND HEIGHTS - - - The Board of Directors of the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce announced their 2020 Chairman of Board on October 11, 2019. Fletcher Wells from St. John’s Bank was named Chairman of the Board. Fletcher Wells II is the Vice President and Director with St. Johns Bank. St. Johns is one of the larger, small banks involved in the St. Louis and St. Charles county markets which is still family owned and operated. He’s been in bank for over 40 years. He graduated from Parkway Central High in 1972, the University of Missouri, St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1977, and then from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1987. Fletcher’s currently involved in business development and community relations. He is currently active in North County, Inc., the Northwest, Maryland Heights, Greater St. Charles and Greater North County Chambers of Commerce, the St. Charles Rotary Club and the Maryland Heights Economic Development Commission, often holding various Board positions. 08/28/2019 - Chamber Benefit Plan health insurance now available across Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY — With the rising cost health insurance, many small businesses in Missouri have found themselves either priced out of the market or being forced to offer plans with fewer benefits. However, an innovative health insurance model is poised to change that for thousands of small businesses across the state. The Chamber Benefit Plan, available statewide on August 28, is a joint effort between the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the local chambers of commerce that comprise the Missouri Chamber Federation. The health insurance offered by the Missouri Benefit Plan first rolled out to a limited number of small businesses in 2017. The plan uses an innovative multiple employer welfare arrangement model. This model enables smaller employers to join together and share in the overall claims risk by being part of larger self-funded pool. Currently 1,200 small businesses are part of the plan which is providing coverage to 17,000 Missourians. Those numbers are expected to increase under a new law passed by the Missouri General Assembly and signed by Gov. Mike Parson. “We are thrilled that the Chamber Benefit Plan is now marketable to all eligible businesses in Missouri. Members tell us frequently how the plan has stabilized and reduced their insurance costs while offering great coverage for their employees,” said Daniel P. Maryland Heights Named Missouri’s 2013 Google eCity Posted Date: 8/20/2013 Maryland Heights has been named the digital capital of Missouri by Google. The 2013 Google eCity Awards identified the strongest online business communities in each state as part of the company’s annual economic impact report. “We are extremely proud to be recognized by Google for the strength of our online business community,” Mayor Mike Moeller said. “The City Council and I have worked hard to make Maryland Heights a place where businesses can thrive, and this award is a good indication that our efforts have been successful.” Google and independent research firm Ipsos MORI analyzed the online strength of local small businesses in cities in all 50 states, evaluating them on criteria such as social media presence, eCommerce and Google AdWords penetration. The city with the highest scores in each state was designated a 2013 Google eCity.
